Who We Are

The Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind (KWAB) Was established in 1967 under the Karnataka Registration of societies Act 1960. KWAB is affiliated to All India Confederation of the Blind, New Delhi. The Association strives to provide the visually challenged, other differently challenged and even the economically deprived non disabled persons, an opportunity for education skills – development, economic rehabilitation and social integration – to help them to overcome challenges of disabilities, poverty and ignorance and achieve intellectual profundity, height in skill development, economic rehabilitation for independence and social Integration with capacity to contribute.

Mission

KWAB’s Mission is to provide quality support, services and Guidance for the Education skills development, Career Guidance ensuring life of their choice, Independence and self esteem and emerge as valued contributing members of the society.

 

 

Our Goal

Our goal is to empower visually impaired and differently-abled individuals by providing quality education, skill development, and rehabilitation support.
We strive to create equal opportunities for children from socially and economically deprived backgrounds, helping them become independent, confident, and self-reliant individuals.
Through our programs, we aim to promote dignity, inclusion, and full participation in society, enabling every individual to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Objectives

  • Leading the Blind and others to a better life.
  • Providing the necessary support for the education, skills development rehabilitation and integration of the beneficiaries.
  • Providing Orientation and Mobility Training and Training in daily living skills to the blind.
  • Infusing determination into the Blind and Disabled and the Deprived to lead a life of self esteem.
  • Arranging frequent eye checkup.
  • Providing counseling to the parents, teachers and rehab workers for the disabled.
  • To provide Vocational and Professional Training and self entrepreneurship training and support for self and group ventures.
  • To promote self help groups.
  • To provide for Personality Development and Social Integration and mainstreaming.
  • To print books in Braille (Kannada & English)
  • To provide Assistive Devices ad Special Aids and Appliances, etc.
